How does the unit energy savings?

This product reduces the amount of power drawn from the utility supplier by storing in its capacitors otherwise lost electricity (watts) caused by the inductive motors in your business or home. (Some examples of inductive motors are heating units, air-conditioning units, refrigerators, freezers, office equipment, exhaust fans, computers, printers, almost all electronics, washers, dryers, dishwashers, pumps of all kinds, vacuum cleaners, compressors, hot tubs, humidifiers, dehumidifies, fans, etc.) The technology applied by our device supplies that stored electricity back to your inductive loads, thus causing you to decrease your demand from the utility supplier. If you decrease your demand from the utility, your meter slows down, you use less electricity and you save money. You pay dearly for that electricity, why pay for it and waste it when you can pay for it, store it, and reuse it again. This whole process is called power factor optimization.

What is Power Factor?

Power Factor is the percentage of electricity that is delivered to your home or business and used effectively, compared to what is wasted. For example, a 1.0 power factor means that all the electricity that is being delivered to your home is being used effectively for its purpose. However, most homes today have a .77 power factor or less and businesses are generally worse. This means that 77% of the electricity that is coming through your meter at your home or business is being used effectively. The other 23% is being wasted by your inductive load. With a low power factor, the utility service has to deliver more electricity to do the same work. Commercial and Industrial are issued power factor penalties on their hydro bill because of the larger amount of wasted energy. It is expected to happen to homeowners in the future as well. The good news is the Powerworx increases that power factor in most cases to .95 or .97 (95% or 97% efficiency), thus increasing the effective use of your electricity and lowering your overall usage and virtually eliminating waste. The Power-Factor penalties on your bill are also eliminated.

If the Pure Global Energy line of power factor correction devices are is so great, why doesn't everyone have one?

That's easy; cost effectiveness. Up until recently, electric rates throughout the United States and Canada were considered cheap, costing us 2, 3 or 4 cents per kilowatt-hour. Now, electric rates are 8, 10 or 12 cents per kWh. At the cheaper rates the Conquest didn't make sense, but at the current rates, and with an extra-imposed power factor penalty it makes all the sense in the world. Prices are not going to go down and are expected to take drastic jumps in the future. Now we can protect ourselves from the ever rising costs!

Are these products tested, certified or approved by independent laboratories or organizations?

Yes, the Pure Global Energy Solutions line of products are (UL) listed. There is also a U.S. Department of Energy study (Sept. 1980 DOE/TIC 11339, Category UC 38) that attest to the savings and all benefits gained through the use of power factor optimization.

Will this effect my appliances?

Yes, in a POSITIVE way as your motors will run about 10% cooler, which is good for a motor because heat is the enemy of a motor. This will save additional money in maintenance costs and replacement costs. Our products actually extend the life of the motor! It also eliminates power surges and protects against lightning strikes therefore also protecting all your motors and saving you money! All of your appliances/equipment/ballast lighting/electronics will run much more efficiently!

Does your product provide surge protection?

It protects all the motors in your business or home against power surges. There is no longer a need for so many surge protectors in the home. It also provides a broad range of protection for appliances, delicate electronics, business equipment and home electronics such as televisions, satellite equipment, entertainment systems, etc. The unit protects from power lines surges as well as spikes caused by internal wiring problems, loose connections and fluctuating demand from large motors such as appliances, vacuum cleaners, heating and cooling equipment, etc. Powerworx will protect your business or home appliances in the event of a lightning strike as specified in the manufacturer warranty.

How long will it take for the unit to pay for itself?

Generally a unit will pay for itself in 12-18 months. It depends on the ultimate power savings. In some situations, customers have seen savings of 25%, 35% and even 45%, which speeds up the process of returning your investment.

How much can I expect to save every month with your products?

That depends on many factors. The size of your business or home, the amount of inductive motor loads, the amount you are paying per kilowatt-hour for electricity etc. However, generally speaking, business users of the product have seen up to 25% and more in reduced costs. The average home savings are somewhere in the 10-15% range. For businesses it can be much higher as businesses typically have larger inductive load appliances, equipment, lighting, heating and cooling systems, fans, etc. Businesses are also issued a power factor penalty on top of their consumption charges and by eliminating that penalty a business will save even more. However in either application the more motors you have the more you will save.

Does the power factor correction device work in any home or business?

Yes it does, as long as you have a circuit breaker panel with breaker switches. The old screw in type fuses will have to have a special breaker installed by an electrician at an extra cost. The unit will work on any single-phase electric application for homes and most three phase electric applications in businesses. Please note that some businesses operate on a single-phase application.
